HYPERGUN Review

Hypergun is a First-person shooter and you Fight through waves of alien interlopers and save the world as Dewey Owens in HYPERGUN, a fast-paced roguelike shooter centering around a procedural weapon of questionable effectiveness. Enter the simulation.

You Play as DevTech Labs’ fearless intern, Dewey Owens in! It’s up to Dewey to master the ultimate combat simulator. Fighting through waves of alien interlopers in a simulation designed to create the ultimate weapon, players will unlock exciting new classes all while gaining powerful abilities in their journey to create the HYPERGUN.

Gameplay:

Right at the beginning of the game you start in an elevator, what I first found was notes and paper spread all over the levels given you information and story. I was not expecting to see that but it was great to see that the developers have put in time and effort to implement a story in the game. I walk through from the elevator and I also found out that you can interact with the environment like using a computer or swaying a chair around and it just makes the world more believable. When you walk through the door at the other end, you come across a room with many doors leading you to many areas. Assembly Department, Alien Gallery, weapon gallery, lunch Room and Offices and the last one is the simulation Chamber.

The first thing I did was to run to the Simulation chamber, once I was there I have a choice if I wanted to try the tutorial. When I was in the simulation I found out that you had 4 Current abilities in which they will help you to succeed in the levels.

Build the HYPERGUN!

Create the HYPERGUN – With over 150 weapon modules to collect, no two runs in the simulation will be the same. Each module you pick up will change your weapon in exciting and sometimes questionable ways, all in the name of determining the ultimate weapon to defeat our alien oppressors.

Unlockable Classes and Abilities
Unlock your co-worker’s simulation profiles to gain access to a selection of more than 40 unique abilities to gain the upper hand in the simulation.

Graphics/Sound:

The Developer has created a simple looking game on the PC. HyperGun has very simple textures, but the game still looks good for a small team. You can see that the developer has put a lot of care into crafting the world. I would also like to say that the game as very nice lighting and shadow effect that bring’s the game to life. I was very surprised to see a good looking game developed by a small studio. The sound production is so good in this game, this is another area where they have spent a lot of time and effort. I really like the music in the game as well, it goes well with the fast-paced gameplay.

Conclusion:

I really enjoyed my time shooting my way through hordes of enemies and creating my dream weapon. The developer has created a good but simple looking game set in a simulation. The more I play, the harder it was to put the controller down. Speaking about the controls, the game feels just right in your hands and its what you expect from a fast FPS like this. The game has great potential and I hope it has the success that it deserves. If you are a big fan of high-speed roguelike FPS then this is a must Buy.
