The Bard’s Tale IV Review

The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep is the triumphant return of one of the most iconic RPG series of all-time. Delve into a tactically rich combat system that rewards creativity, solve puzzles to gain treasure and advantages, and discover a beautifully crafted world.

Over one hundred years later, the terrible events of Skara Brae’s violent destruction are nearly forgotten. Hidden in the shadows, an evil has waited patiently. Until now. Fanatics are gathering control, the famous Adventurer’s Guild has been outlawed and its members persecuted, and you must rise up in defiance to become the hero that the realm needs. Featuring 40+ hours of gameplay, 350 speaking parts, and over 100 pieces of incredible music.

Gameplay:

You start off with a cut scene telling the story of the Bard’s Tale and then I am spawned into the magical world. From there you walk around a little village and talk to some of the locals and get to know more of the Bard’s story. You start playing Bard’s Tale IV with a character automatically generated by the game. This is a human bard. You will play this character until you reach the Hero’s Guild. You get the opportunity to know your skills and make the right choice. You will be able to keep the character or create a new one. If you choose the second option, you will be transferred to the character creation menu.

In Bard’s Tale, you’ve four archetypes (classes) to choose from, Bard, Practitioner, Fighter, and Rogue. Each of them is completely different and the gameplay differs a lot. This is due to the fact that each class fights with a different type of weapon and wears different types of armor. They also have a different set of skills. The exact differences between all classes are described in the sections about specified character classes. In addition, the choice of archetype has an impact on certain character statistics.

The combat system in The Bard’s Tale has a turn-based system where you take turns to strike your enemies. The battle takes place on a 4×4 grid, with your party standing on one side and the enemy standing on the other. Movement is very important. Which enemy an adventurer hits depends entirely on where they stand on the battlefield and the targeting pattern of the ability they’re using. You have three opportunity points to spend each turn. This number will increase as you progress. You adventurers have abilities that cost the opportunity to activate. The only way to recover opportunity after it is spent is to end your turn.

The Skill menu is very easy to navigate and understand, its spilled into 4 sections Music, Attack, Defense and Brewing. Each section has three layers of upgrades to improve your character.

Graphics/Sound:

I really like the look of The Bard’s Tale IV. The developer has created a good looking game. The game comes with nice lighting effects which brings the game to life. The team should be very proud of themselves for what they have achieved. Now let’s get on to the sound production and this is an area where they also have done a good job, every character in the game is fully voiced and the world as some very nice sound effects which also brings this game to life .

Conclusion:

So what is my Conclusion, well The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep is the triumphant return of one of the most iconic RPG series of all-time. Delve into a tactically rich combat system that rewards creativity, solve puzzles to gain treasure and advantages, and discover a beautifully crafted world
